Just bought a suzuki 230 motor and the clutch seems funny. It sat on a shelf for 2 years with no oil in the motor. Could that cause the clutch plates to go bad? Anty ideas guys?

Not in any of my experiences. I can't think of any technical reason for this theory to be true.

It wouldnt be ruined in the sense that its junk, but it could be gummed up.
The wet clutch pack is supposed to be lubed by fresh oil, and they wont stick. But if the oil has condensed and gotten sticky, then the clutch plates will want to stick together.
The only sure way to know, is to pull out the clutch, disassemble it, wash it good in kerosene, and let them dry. Inspect the thickness and flatness, and if its good,Then oil them up, with a good quality motorcycle motor oil, and reassemble.
