Holeshot ATR vs. Maxxis Bighorn
I've checked some of the comparisons between the Bighorns and other tires, and the ATR's against other tires, but I couldn't find any between these two. Any opinions for my Prairie 700 in upstate, NY? Hardpack, mud, rocks, roots...a real mix of ground conditions.

I ride a couple of hours from you often, about an hour north of Schenectady. Black stinky mud, leaves, granite, hard pack, snow, ice....
Bighorns aren't suppose to be good in the mud. Makes sense given the closed tread pattern. Some users say they turn into a "spinning slime ball" when they fill up with mud. They are suppose to be a great hard pack and rock tire.
Try the Wetlands radial, the new ITP MTR (for 12" rims), or maybe the ATRs for where you ride.

I have ATR's on my Rancher, and they are on super light ITP Magnum rims. Keeps the bike real light, and sporty. The tires do very well in rocky, technical terrain and especially snow. Can't say about mud, we don't really have any here in the arid southwest.
My buddy has Bighorns on his Prarie 700. They do real well, but seem big and HEAVY to me. Nothing sporty about them! Neither of us has had any problems with punctures or flats or anything like that.

I have ATR's and I'm planning to switch to Bighorns this spring. The ATR's have too soft of side walls in my opinion. I've had 3 flats with these tires in under 250 miles and zero flats on my stock tires or MST's mud tires. A couple friends have bighorns, for typical trail riding, mud, rocks, hardpack, etc and they do great. Plus they wear like iron.
Whats the ITP MTR?
