Will I hurt my Engine If......
#1
I run the moter with the high altitude jet in it?
The high altitude jet is for over 5000 feet, but here at home we are just under 5000 (by less than 100 feet).
Will running my honda Rancher at this elevation burn up the motor?
Thanks.

you are probably good, BUT i would remove the spark plug after you run it for awhile and "read" it. the porcelin (on the "business end") should be brown. not white (very lean) or black (too rich). i try for the color of a brown paper bag. this is not as good as dialing in on a dyno, but it is fairly accurate and easy to do
two notes. first, it may help if you install a new plug first, and second, the motor should be run at least half throttle for a good run immediately before a plug reading (to make sure the main jet is being used. it may take a few miles to color the plugs.
the plugs should be read anytime anything changes.every engine is an individual and many engines need different jets (than the suggested) to get dialed in right.
ideally you should jet for your altitude at home, then then at higher altitudes it would run slightly rich. this is a lot better than running lean at your home's altitude.
but read your plugs and go from there. if you are jetted for 5000' and you are within 100 feet of that, that's about as close as you can get.

this website should be very useful when reading your plug after you change jetting.
