Anybody burn out or break a winch
#2
use your winch as a winch, not a tow strap. before i got my winch installed, i got hung-up in some deep ruts that were underwater and i couldnt see them. i guy with a polaris and a winch hooked up to me. i started pulling him in instead of him pulling me out. then he said "i'll just try to pull you with the winch cable. it worked for me, but it broke his winch. it wouldnt re-spool and the motor sounded awful. always winch with the engine running. the pull on the baterry can kill it. never be directly in line with the steel cable when its under load either. stand off to the side. if the cable snapps, it can go flying and cause real injury if it strikes you(or if whatever the cable is attached to fails, it will came flying too)
