Holeshot HD or RAZR II on the front of a 2WD Utility???
#1
My son's Kawasaki Bayou 220 push steers with 23x8X10 Dirt Devils on the front. I reversed them and it definitely helped (looks kinda dumb though), but it's still a pain to turn around at slow speeds. I've been thinking of putting either of the above tires on the front. I'm not interested in a Holeshot vs. Razr debate...just wondering if anyone has used this type of tire on the front of a 2WD utility and if you were happy with the results. Thanks!

What are you running on the rear???
If the rear tires are tall, you need to stick with tall fronts. Maybe someting like Holeshot XCT's????

It has 23X10X10 Dirt Devils on the rear and 23X8X10 Dirt Devils on the back. (see my pics) When we got it, it had 22X11X10 Goodyear Trackers on the back and 22X8X9 Carlisle Walmart specials on front (half bald to boot). The Dirt Devils didn't help with the slow speed turning. I don't drive it much, but I can get it to turn better if I shift my weight forward and put more lbs. on the front. My 11 yr. old doesn't have that option though. I think most of the problem lies in the design of the Bayou 220. Sounds like they all have this problem. I was thinking I might be able to minimize it with different tires up front.
It's a fun, tough little ATV for a 11 yr. old. We go to the mountains (rocks) quite a bit with it and also to the Utah desert (cactus), so I want 6 ply tires. I kind of like the idea of the deep tread on the Razr IIs, but don't know if would help that much...also didn't want to spend $150 and find out it didn't help. Now if someone has a pair of 23X7X10 Razr IIs on a set of 4/110 rims they'd like to loan out for an hour or two...

Hey Dad. I recently needed slightly taller tires for my 400EX to improve ground clearance for rough and rocky conditions. I went with Razr II 23X7-10 in front and All Trac 22X11-9 rears. The front Razr IIs stick like glue in all corners with no hint of pushing thru corner. However they are not near as stable in straights as the stock OEM tires. In fact they were so twitchy I was constantly making steering corrections just to go straight. Great for fast riding in tight twisties but not the best for relaxed cruising. I am also thinking of reversing front tires to compare the difference.
