Mud Tire Snow Traction
#1
If a snow tire makes its traction by compacting, gripping and rolling over snow; should we be reversing out mud tires (which clean things out of their treads) for better traction in snowy trail conditions.
I understand Sure-Trac and Realtor recommend this practice. I assume it would work on a Goodyear Tracker P which comes standard on the Sportsman 500.
Does anybody have any experience reversing mud tires in the winter for better snow traction?

I don't know about this technique with mud/snow tires, but a lot of the farmers down in my hometown area do this with their tractors. We have a lot of sandy soil, really sandy in most areas in fact. As a result, by reversing the standard tractor tire, instead of the digging, clawing effect, it gives more of a floatational characteristic-if that makes sense. Like I said, I'm not sure about the mud/snow tires, but I know for a fact that if these guys didn't reverse their tractor tires, they'd be stuck-seen it happen too many times already by less experienced guys.
Good luck,
Mike
