Is dealer break-in maintance service necessary?
#1
The dealer told me I need to bring in the new bikes after 20hrs for valve check etc. It's going to be about $250 @, OUCH! Is it really necessary? Will I void my warranty if I don't?
Bty- 6 month warranty is a joke.

See my comments on what needs to be done to a new quad here: http://forums.atvconnection.com/mess...did/517952.cfm
Most anybody of average mechanical ability can do all the maintenance, except maybe a valve adjustment. It will not void your warranty to do maintenance yourself, but do be sure to use lubricants that meet your engine design specifications! (With cars anyway, state law says that all you need to do is to keep the reciepts for things like oil and oil filters, to prove that you did purchase them.)
That first valve adjustment is very crucial, so absolutely do not neglect that one!

If you want a guide for a tour of the San Bernardino Mtns. sometime, let us know. It is usually cool enough up there that you can ride comfortably on days when the vallies would be to hot.

You're better off buying a service manual and doing all the work yourself. If you can work on a car, you can work on your ATV. I avoid the dealer at all costs when it comes to repairs and maintenance. The only time I bring anything to the dealer is if the job requires special (expensive) tools or a high level of training.
