I have a 1998 Yamaha Grizzly 600 4x4, it is not transfering but about 50% of the power to the wheels in 2 or 4 wheel drive. I have pulled the cover and the belt is 1 1/4 inches wide and looks good. it also meets the width from factory specs. So I am left scratching my head with this one. I was sure it would be the drive belt.
Can anyone help with this?

WHAT I DO IS DRIVE IT WITH THE COVER OFF SEE IF THE PRIMARY+SECONDARY MOVE CORRECTLY+RIDE THE BELT UP WITH OUT BACKING OFF UNDER ACCELERATION,BE CAREFUL,KEEP YOUR LEG FAR AWAY+WEAR SAFETY EQUIPTMENT.TRY NOT TO GET THINGS DIRTY.I WOULD FIRST SEE IF THERE IS ANY CONTAMINATES.

i was a yamaha technician and have see this before, it will probably be the "sprag type" clutch in behind the primary, remove primary, a tin cover behind that, then remove the cover primary shaft comes though and you will find the "sprag type clutch" as yamaha calls it. last time i did one could not buy the clutch ears seperate had to buy whole unit and was about 350 if memory serves me. hope that helps ya.
