Default Bear Claw vs. Dirt Devil II - Size differences

I had bought a slightly used pair of 25x10-12 Bear Claws cheap to put on the rear of my Prairie 300 4x4. I've had several sets of the original Dirt Devils and thought they might make a little better front tire for the type of riding that I do, so I bought a pair of 25x8-12 DD IIs for the front. When I picked up the DD IIs, they looked really short and super wide, but since they were unmounted, I just paid for them and took them home. I mounted both pairs on 12x7 wheels. The 25x10-12 Bear Claw measures 24.75" tall (slightly used) by 8.75" wide. The 25x8-12 DD II is only 23.5" tall, but is as wide as the Bear Claw at 8.75". Kinda gripes me. I've always known the Dirt Devils were a little short, but 23.5" for a 25" tire...that's ridiculous. They did only weigh 17.0 lbs., which is also off from the 18.3 lbs. listed on their website...guess that only stands to reason as short as they are.

I called GBC and they "hadn't heard of this problem before." Yeah right...tires don't just get "mislabeled", they come out of a mold with the size label a part of the mold.

Kenda lists the 25x10-12 on a 8.5" wheel as 24.5" x 9.3" wide (sec. width)(basically what I measured with allowance for my 7" wheel). Greenball lists the DD II 25x8-12 on a 7" wheel as 25.2" x 8.3". At an actual 23.5", that's almost 2" shorter than they list on their website. Looks like GBC needs to get with the program...

Since I told the tire store guy to order these for me I probably can't take them back. Guess I have a pair of 25x8-12 DD IIs for sale.
