Do you want mud tires or dirt/general pupose? Some are actually good for mud and dirt. I think 489s are great dirt tires, at least the Titan brand are, but some people like Razrs better. Razrs are mostly in small sizes for sport ATVs. 498s have tread that twice as good IMO.

i do a lot of different stuff. ridin mx tracks in woods, muddin, small-medium jumps, fast trails and tight trails, and some hill/rock climing. not big on hill climbs tho. too scared. ill probly just get some mudlites or swamplites up front and do the opposite in the back.

If I was buying new tires to ride mostly on dirt I would get dirt tires. If the majority of your riding isn't in mud, then you don't need mud tires. I don't ever plan on buying another set, even though mine were bad@$$. I kept stock tires on my first two ATVs and my last one too. I'm keeping stock tires on the new ATV I get Saturday, too. They're 26" radials just like my last quad. If you never had radial tires on an ATV you should test ride one. There are good reasons they use them instead of bias-ply tires on all cars, and most trucks and motorcycles too. They're better on anything that has wheels and an engine. Radials have a wide footprint, like an old-fashioned bias-ply tire with half the air let out of them. They give you better traction no matter what you're riding on.

mud and back roads are a majoriy of what i do. they probly make up about 60% of my riding. then trails would be about 30 and the rest would be the last 10.

Whether that's true or not, one more reason not to buy mud tires is most of them steer harder.

the worst turning radius atv ive ever seen was my quadrunner 160. cant even cut donuts unless you spend about 10 minutes in the mud and then its just one donut. and riding at low speeds its impossible to get it to turn.

but i think im gonna just save up and get some new rims and tires. but i dont know yet. if i do that then ill have to wait till i get the new rims to ride. and its hard for me to see a 4wheeler just sit there and not be able to ride it.

one more question. will rim size affect handling? like right now ive got a 9"rim with 22" tires on it. if i had like a 14"rim with 22" tires would it affect it much other than weight?
