Default front brakes on recon

My daughters 2001 recon has drum front brakes and there is a little plug you can remove on the outside of the drum. After removing the plug if you look in the hole and turn the tire (you need the tire off the ground for this) you will see a ratchet like adjuster that if you turn it will tighten the brakes up a bit. I think it is supposed to automatically adjust when you apply the brakes after backing up like automobiles do.

The brake pads can adjust all the way out until there is absolutely no pad left. So as long as there is brake pad left you can adjust them.

If it is has disk brakes on the fron you might check you wheel bearings. When the wheel bearings go out on a disk brake tire the wobbling tire pushes the brake pads out so that they have to travel farther when you apply them. This causes you to have to pump the brakes to get them to work.

In either case, it is an easy fix.
