Default kodiak 450 oil leak

Hi everyone
picked up my first quad a few months ago, kodiak 450, its not new but seems to be good condition, pretty happy with it but have not used it much really. Anyway lately I notice a little oil drip from under the rear drive, sorry for my bad terminology here but im useless with engines etc, anyway it seems to be from the middle of the drive where the shafts to the rear wheels meet, I guess its a drive shaft type of thing, there is a splash plate underneath it so its hard to see it exactly, as I say its only a small drip, I have seen some other posts about bad seals, I wonder if its anything i need to worry about?

Hi and Welcome to the forums!

Let me see if I understand your location description...

Do you mean a little leak from the REAR of the Engine/Transmission? I had a problem where my output drive shaft was (might still be) leaking on my quad. Thankfully it was warranty work and it should be fixed.. but it was a lot of work for the stealership to do.

I will take a picture of where mine was leaking later today and let you know.

well you know the splash plate underneath the drive at the back of the bike, its seems to be from there, so I guess its from the rear drive more than the engine

If I were to guess I'd say it's a seal issue. I had a Kodiak 450 (05) that had a lot of seal issues. That being said, having it fixed shouldn't cost too much. Usually better than a new ATV payment!
Good luck with your ATV and have fun with it. Overall a fun machine.
