the cv boot closest to the wheel is tore and when i put it in 4wd today something popped. it looks like its the cv axle that broke close to the wheel. on ebay it says cv half shaft. is that what i need to fix my prob. thanks

 

that is what you need all you will have to do is seperate the shaft.

 

Yup, you can get what is called a 1/2 shaft. It includes the outter CV joint and out side axle shaft goes through the CV joint with the boot attached and has the inner axle there as well.

To install you have to remove the inner cv boot clamps, pull the boot towrds the outside a little. Wipe off some of the CV grease and remove a C-cip to get the Inner cv to slide off the axle.

When you go to install you have to clean and repalce the grease inthe inner CV joint and replace the boot bands on the inner CV joint. If you look on the web site thecvman.com you will find instructions and parts. Last time I checked they were like $150 plus shipping and it came with the outter CV boot already installed and a replacement boot, grease, bands for the inside. A complete kit.

might just want to pull it apart and inspect it b4 buying anything i just pulled apart the half/shaft on my scrambler and it had a broken clip ,cheap and easy fix
