Hello all i bought a fixer upper and got it running but when I put it into first gear it just makes a grinding sound from the transmission. Every now and then it will catch and lunge forward in first gear. If you put it up into 2nd its runs fine. But it does feel like its not catching while moving in 2nd gear sometimes. I looked at the clutch and everything looks fine. So I split the cases and everything is in good shape. Now i'm stumped. If anyone has in suggestions it would be really appreciated!!!!!

My diagnosis....it's just old and worn out! Well overdue for a total rebuild, or retirement.
