Howdy Guys/Gals...what kind of info would you like to know when buying a set of aftermarket tires? I'm not a business just curious as to how much info to get when considering new tires.

WELL I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET INFO ON SAND TIRES FROM 2 DIFFERENT MAG TECHS, 2- CATALOG TIRE DEALERS, THE MAKER OF MY ATV, 3-DIFFERENT PLACES ON THESE MESSAGE BOARDS AND VARIOUS DEALERS AROUND TOWN. THIS HAS BEEN OVER THE PAST 2 WEEKS. AS OF NOW I HAVE RECIEVED ONE REPLY FROM ONE CATALOG DEALER. EITHER NOBODY KNOWS THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL OR USE, OR THEY KNOW AND ARE JUST NOT TELLING OR MAYBE MY QUESTIONS ARE TO COMPLICATED! MY FRIEND HAS THIS PROBLEM WHEN HE INQUIRES ABOUT CAR PARTS. O'WELL THE SEARCH MUST GO ON!

I usually like to know what the ply rating is, what the compound type is (is it soft, medium, hard?) and of course what size it is. Other than that I just look into the background of the company, what they sponsor, who uses the tires ect.

HELLO BUSHBUNNY
I HAVE BEEN WONDERING WHICH SAND TIRES WERE GOOD FOR THE POLARIS SCRAMBLER 500 4X4. I HAVE BEEN THINKING OF THE SMOOTH FOR THE FRONT BUT WOULD THE MOHAWK BE BETTER? FOR THE REAR I HAVE BEEN THINKING OF THE HAULER, BUT IS THERE MUCH OF AN ADVANTAGE GOING WITH THE V-SHAPED OR SIMILAR. NOW SHOULD I STAY TALL IN FRONT AND SMALLER IN REAR OR SHOULD I STAY WITH STOCK. IF I WENT SMALLER IN REAR WOULD IT HELP WITH SPEED OR LOOSE FLOATATION? IF I DEVIATE FROM STOCK WOULD I HAVE TO RE-GEAR BECAUSE IF THE DIFFERENT SIZE TIRES WILL SCREW WITH MY 4-WHEEL DRIVE WHICH I DONT REALLY PLAN ON USING. AND HOW MANY PADDLES IVE SEEN 6 UP TO 10? AND LASTLY SHOULD I GO WITH DOUGLAS .190 AL. WHEELS BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT OF MY MACHINE (APPROX. 550LBS.)?

Howdy Spanky from what I have read concerning sand tires you would be better off with Mohawks on the front verses the smooth...the mohawks will make your Polaris steer and turn easier,you should take a look at the Edge tires for the rear also...there designed for the recreational rider and aid in turning...stick with your stock sizes so you won't have to change your gearing...if you run a smaller diameter tire on your quad you will loose speed...hope that helps you out?
