Default New guy begging for help

Been riding for about 10 years and my tires are full of Mesquite thorns. Slime doesn't help much anymore. Tire to replace the tires.

I live in South Central Texas, south of San Antonio in the sand hills and we have tons of Mesquite trees and their obnoxious thorns.

I have been looking on the internet and am confused about the tires. Rear tires are AT25X10-12. What do these numbers mean?

There are different brands to choose from but the closest I could find that looks like mine is the Kenda Bear Claw.

I'm 70 years young, disabled vet and living on a fixed income. Needless to say my options are limited.

I need all the advice I can get and do appreciate in and all the comes my way.

Thanks

Default Tire size explained...

Well, I can't help much with the Mesquite thorn problem or even what tire type to replace it with. But here is a link to an explanation of the dimensions of an ATV tire..

ATV Tire Size Explanation | eHow

Basically, from the article, with your tire as an example, 25x10x12 :
The First Number

  • As confusing as 25x10x12 might seem, it's really not. The first number (25) is the outside diameter, or "ride height," measured in inches. It is simply how tall the tire is from the ground to the top. This number can range in most cases from 18 to 27 inches.
The Second Number

  • Sticking with 25x10x12 as an example, the second number is related to the width or "foot-print" of the tire. In this case, 10 means the tire measures 10 inches from side to side.
The Third Number

  • The third and final number stands for the rim size. This is essentially the diameter of the "hole" in the center of the tire. A 25x10x12 number means the tire is designed for a 12-inch rim or wheel.
In Review

  • When you put it all together, a 25x10x12 ATV tire is 25 inches tall, 10 inches wide and mounts on a 12-inch rim.
I hope this helps...

Regards..
