Are Maxxis All-Tracs a good all-around tire?
#1
I'm thinking about getting new tires for my Big Red 250 and I was wondering how the Maxxis All-Tracs work. What they are like in mud, sand, etc. I have Bear Claws on it now but I find they are a real heavy tire and the ride sucks because they're so stiff.

Amazing isn't it? If your question doesn't specifically match somebody else's interests there is no response.
But anyway... I had a set of these on a King Quad one time. They are good under all conditions until you encounter clay mud. Then they will ball up and not clean themselves and you will be stuck. Of course clay can do that to just about any "all around" tire.
If you are looking for a soft ride you will need a tire with flexible sidewalls with a ** rating, the *** will be a little too stiff as you found out with the Claws. You might try the Dunlop KT125 they are a soft good riding tire as is the Titan 489. In the mud I would give the traction edge to the Titan 489. These two tires are also among the lightest available.

A soft sidewall is important in your case as the three wheelers were designed for balloon tires to be a part of the suspension. Good luck.

I have All-Tracs on my 87 Suzuki Quadrunner and they are a good all around tire in my opinion. The only time I ever have any problem is when I encounter sticky mud but that is expected in sticky situation with an all around tire. I ride in mud and hardpack and they perform well as an all around tire.
