What gives here . I just went out to replace the rear tires on an old Yamaha 3 wheeler Ive got. The stock tire size on the old knobby tires reads 22x11.00-8. I picked up a nice pair of Carlisle Strykers in 22x11-8 brought them home and looked long and hard at both pairs...Just by looking there is no way those new strykers will fit on without rubbing up against the exhaust silencer..Thats if they even get on at all...I put a measuring tape up to the Strykers and they are 12 inches wide from outer tread edge to other edge whereas the knobbys are about 10 inches. I called the guy back at the shop and he says since the stock tire size is 22x11-8 any tires labelled that should fit...I would bet otherwise..Any ideas ? I thought maybe offset rims might give me more room. Has anyone crossed this bridge before ?Text

The only suggestion I have is contact Yamaha and ask them if there was an error in that manual and what the actual size is.

Have you mounted the new Strykers yet? If not they will slim up a little after you mount them and get some air in them and they might fit with out rubbing.

Carlisle's are pretty wide as it is. We used to use the old Wal-Mart bought Carlisle Turfbusters on our old Yamaha's and our Honda 300. They were always 12" wide, but they would fit.

Until you actually get them mounted on rims, you can't really tell what the final dimensions will be. Chances are, they will fit just fine.

Well here's the long and short of it.
I really wanted those Carlisles to fit but neither I nor the tire guy thought they would no matter how much I wanted them to. We called the supplier again and told him we had some tires that should be the right size but didnt look right. Without any prompting he guessed the make. He said Carlisles are made wide and will likely rub the exhaust and the front forks. he suggested the Duro mud buster and guaranteed they would fit. To make a long story short I bought the Duros and returned the Carlisles...Too bad cause they looked sharp, but the Duros are on and they look pretty good. I also think the installer was happy not to have to mount and dismount the Carlisles..I dont think they do too many atv tires..it took him forever..There was more than a little muttering in the garage.

And Just a note..when I mounted the Duro's they did slim up quite a bit but I still think I would have had problems with the Carlisles...

Thanks for all your suggestions.
