I have the dual rate works without the rezzies. They are a pretty good improvement over the stock shocks. I'd have to say it's pointless to replace your front shocks without adding a steering stabilizer. The benefit of running both will be very noticeable. I think you can skimp on the rezzies for the fronts unless you ride alot of MX. Use the extra cash on some better tires. The stockers are miserable. I personally use the 22" Maxxis All tracks on the rear, the handling difference and traction are unbelievable.

I just got a set of triple rate work w/out res for my 400EX. I haven't had a good chance to test them yet becuase where I live there is about a foot or two of snow everywhere. Luckily we got some rain and it froze everything over pretty good. I got test them a little bit yesterday. There was a snowbank on my front lawn that was perfect for jumping. First I took my uncle's stock 400 out and jumped it for 10 or 15 minutes, then I took mine out, and the two shocks don't even compare. Mine rode through the ruts much better and I could go further and land smoother! I was go far enough on his fourwheeler so that the front end would bottom out and bounce back up again. When I did it with the works shocks though, I could go further and land smoother. I couldn't do too much riding though, becuase my chain keeps soming off. (sprockets are worn really bad) I gained travel with these shock and got them from Denton racing. I had them set up for enduro riding too. I highly recommend getting them from Denton racing. They were the nicest place I've ever ordered anything from. They called every week to tell me how my shocks were coming along.
