Opinions on Belt Trannies wanted
#1
I would like some input from some owners on the belt trannies, such as that available on the kodiak. I plan to get one very soon and just want to gain alittle more knowledge about them and hopefully get some good input about maintenance, wear 'n tear, are they liked? any and all suggestions/opinions.

They are great. Had one since 1994 and three machines later I still own one. An automatic is the way to go. Never had a problem. The new Kodiak is nice and you should be quite pleased with the machine.

the belts do just fine. the air intake on my kodiak is under the front rack, and under the blk piece of plastic. the exhaust vent is under the rear rack, so as long as you keep the water levels below their you're doing fine, mines never slipped and i've been in water up to the headlights. mine goes 90+ km/h (56+mph) i berried the nedle last thursday and it stops at 90, so this quad is relatively fast. the engine is peppy (it races 450 hondas, if that helps you) and Mar told me that they have hydraulic valves (no need for adjustment) one thing i noticed is that while at high speeds it feels too narrow, and tippy. some people say that the 450 is wider, but the specs say they're the same width. overall it is a comfortable quad with decent power. (DW says that the motor aint a barn burner, but they call the 450 honda motor peppy in the same shoot-out, which they also stated that the Kodiak constantly beat it in drag races, so i consider the power decent)
