400ex Tires
#2
I can't comment on the dune part as I'm not a sand rat..just a desert rat. I doubt, however, that what is good for desert or xc would be very good for dunes, an vise versa.
I ride the desert every weekend till it gets too hot here & I'm on my second set of Bandit XC's. I'm completely sold on their strength, durability, and the way they carve turns and just generally hook up. If you ride at all agressively you'd like the way they hold a line thru the turns, with little or no roll-over. You just point & gas it! Of course, you can break the rears loose if desired but it'd be your decision not the tires. As you may know the XC's are Kevlar belted which accounts for their rigidity. They are a true 4 ply tire plus the belt, not a "4 ply rated", which is really a 2 ply.

At Glamis, I rode a 400EX with Sand Skate IIs. It pulled them just fine. The guy had an FMF Power Core IV muffler, but that's it. Those paddles really hooked you to the ground. Hard to break 'em loose but every ounce of power was put to use.

go with the skattrax haulers 21-12-8. I had a set of dunehopper 8 paddle and my bike lost power. I saw them at the dunes on many 400's and they was scooting with no trouble at all. Try rockymountainatv.com its a 8 paddle on a scrubed (rough)tire you want.
