Zero Pre-Load Shocks

Ground clearance is somewhat a factor on the front end, but isn't quite so bad in the rear. If you are riding trails you can raise up the shocks so they get back to within an inch or so of stock ride height. If you want to race MX or TT there is no reason not to get zps shocks. You will not find a serious racer without some brand of zps style shocks even in cross country racing.
The biggest advantage I can think of with zps shocks is cornering. With your bike lower it just sticks to the track better and you will rip through corners alot faster.
