what are the advantage of knobby tires ????

I was at a ATV pull and the bikes with knobby type tires didn't do very well..The bikes that did the best were Polaris and a Bombardier..The 650 Kaws just sat there a spun...

Default what are the advantage of knobby tires ????
Knobby tires arent meant for pulling, they are meant for racing.
