Tires for my Rubicon....
#1
Hey, I have an 01 Honda Rubicon and need to replace the rear tires, I need to replace all four but due to my budget I have to replace two at a time, what tires do you recommend for trail riding, I ride in the mountains of eastern Ky where the terrain is really hard, alot of mud, swampland, marsh, very steep hills and grass, I plan to purchase two rears first, and then two matching fronts, what size do you recommend that will fit my stock wheels, I am looking at a "lift kit" on High Lifters website that I plan to install along with new tires, also where is the cheapest plave to buy? any info would be great.
Thank you
Thank you

Whatever tires you get, I would go wider than stock all around if I were you. This will help you get through the mud a little easier as you will have more flotation. Also, a little taller wouldn't hurt eitheir as the extra clearance never hurts. The Rubicon has lots of power so it shouldn't be a problem. You can fit 26x12x12 on the rear and 26x10x12 on the front on a 450ES but you may need spacers on the front if you go that wide.I would go with BearClaws or Mud Bugs depending on how much mud you ride in.

If I were you I would get the bearclaws. They are about the best trail tire around and are fairly cheap. If you plan to put the back tires on before you get the fronts you should stay with 25 inch tires so your drive shaft is not at an angle. If you can wait until you get a 4 tires then get the 26x12x12 inch tires for the rear and 26x9x12 inch tires for the front.

I think that the 589 M/T's would be the optimal solution for you. You can put 26's or 27's on the stock rim, just watch for exhaust shield clearance. Try either Rocky Mountain ATV, or East Kentucky Motorsports, as the prices for the tires will be around $55 per tire, depending on size and width.

I currently have 589 Titans on my Ruby ( 25 inchers ) but i have some of the new holeshots ordered. The
titans are the same width on all 4 tires and the only problem i have with that is trying to go down steep
rutted hills those fat front tires hunt and want to climb out of the ruts !!!! The lugs crab the edges i guess.
Once you get used to manhandling the bars it's not to bad, but i believe if i had it to do over ... I might want the stock width up front. With the aggressive lugs the stock width may act the same way though. More than likely they would.
I would consider the holeshot ATR if i where you, they are getting really good reviews. I plan to put the
589's on my stock rims and the ATR's on the C series rims. Personally I wouldn't go with the tall ie 27 inch
tires I ride in a few places that have some hairy off camber hill trails where the Ruby's low center of gravity
make me feel as though I am on a mountain goat. All depends on the type of riding you do i guess.
