Best tire for Drag racing
#1
I am looking into getting some new rear tires for my '86 TRX310R. We drag race on a short clay road that us usually very dry and slick. I am considering 20x11x10 grooved turf tamers (for less weight and more bite) or either the same size holeshot or GBC shredder. Has anyone had a chance to compare these head to head? Also, what gearing has worked best for you? The '86 gearing seems a bit taller than my '88's is. I am currently running 13/39. Thanks for any help,

CT250R I would actually run the 18x9.5x8 for this. This was what Allan at CT told me 2 yrs ago when I posed the same question to him. There is a big difference in weight between the 20's and 18's. He also suggested to use the .125 Aluminum rims for an additional weight savings.

If you think that it is an important race I would use Pro Wedges. If you turn them around backwards they will hook better because of the direction of the grip. That is what everyone uses that dragraces at Spring Hill dirt drags. There are lots of fast bansees down there. That is their tire of choice.
