drivetrain problems from tire change
#1
I have a '99 polaris 335 sportsman that i just mounted 25" super swampers on. It originally had 23" tires on the front. I have had them on one day with no problems. Now my friends say that this tire change on the front will mess up my front drivetrain gears. I don't really see how because it is not used very often with the 4 wheel drive engaged, and never on hard surfaces engaged. Are my friends serious or are they jealous because I got new, larger tires. Someone give their experienced opinion. Thanks.

25x9.5x10 front
btw: original front tire size was 23"

i think that your stock front tire size was 1" shorter than the rear, if this is the case you could definetly cause problems. now your final gear ratio is higher in the front than the rear. i don't know if 1" is enough to cause damage but i wouldn't try it. there's also more than the front gears that can be damaged.
