Default I NEED BIGGER TIRES

i own a 1998 fourtrax foreman 400 4x4 and i ride hard packed trails alot and i mean alot, i occasionally go mudding in behind my house but ive never gone into the really heavy stuff. ive had the quad for 5 years and its still got the stock tires on it i was wondering if anyone had an oppinion or a suggestion for around a 25-27 inch tire to put on my foreman 400. ive been looking at itp blackwater XTs or goodyear muddrunner but i am open to any tire you might have in mind. thanx

Blackwaters aren't the gratest choice for hardpack!! I run ITP Holeshot ATR's and love them!!

You are a perfect guy for the holeshot atr radials. I have a set on my prairie and they are unbelievable on everything aside from deep deep mud and muck. If you're into that stuff you really need a hardcore mud tire anyway. The atr doesn't do that badly in the mud, but hardpack, high speed, sand, etc, the atr's shine. They ride as smoothly or more so than stock tires, and have 6ply protection. I've put around 700 miles on mine so far with no visible wear and nothing but smiles.

Lightman, have you been in deep mud with those tires (holeshots) and what was your experience with them? I will soon be the proud owner of a P650 and I am looking to upgrade my tires from the stock "Dunflops". I was considering ITP MudLites but I have 26" ITP Blackwaters on my P400 and she slides around alot on loose mud, the front slides, not much grip on the sides , the front tire on the MudLites looks similar to the Blackwaters.

I've had my atr's in about everything, including the deepest nastiest mud in the everglades. They are about equivalent to the stock tires in mud, not the greatest compared to some mud tires. But on high speed riding, hard pack, woods trails, rocks etc, the atrs have awesome grip and smooth ride. I got a set of mud tires for mud riding, atr's for everything else. If you want one tire to do it all and dont ride much mud, get the atrs. If you do ride mud and trails, I do hear the mudrunners are a great tire, and mudlites are popular around here as well.

I love my SS Vamps, they have gotten me through some deep muck! They look awesome and ride good also, you can't go wrong with the Vamps! One of best, oldest design mud tire.
