HORSFALL ODNRA Info Wanted
#1
Hello all, I'm bringing my family to stay at Horsfall on June 22nd. As this is our first trip to Oregon to ride, I have a couple questions I hope you all can help me with. 1. Were coming from CA, I'm towing our new fifth wheel trailer (Rookie Tower) Toy-Hauler. Any problems getting into the campground we should know about before we head up there? Were reserved in space 66 in Horsfall. 2. Any problems getting to where we can ride in the dunes from this campground? We have four quads, my daughter the youngest rider on a Yamaha 80cc machine. 3. In reading other posts, I figure there are several different riding areas, and we wanted to get into the area that offered variety, for my wife and kids to ride also. Any comments? Thanks in Advance, we can't wait till the 22nd......

I assume you are staying in the main campground, not horsfall beach campground. If so, the dunes are at your doorstep...lots of killer trails and dunes...shoudn't be a prob with your hauler, but there is a lot of water down there(lakes, and swamp), so bring the industrial sized mosquito repellant...that's the only thing I don't like about HORSFALL. try WINCHESTER for a day...it's only a half hour north of horsfall.

You'll get your toy hauler in there just fine. Hundreds of people do the same thing every weekend. And yes, you can ride right out of your campsite into the dunes. I suppose there are some mosquitos out there, but hey...it's camping. Bring your bug repellent, or better yet, a bug zapper for some night time entertainment. There is plenty variety at Horsfall. You can even ride on the beach all the way north (9 miles) to Spinreel...or go straight through the dunes. It's a great place to ride. Winchester is fun too (bigger hills), but it is pretty small, and you can cover just about all of it in one day. I'd probably stop there on the last day after you're all loaded up and ride it for a while before heading back home.

the mosquitos are just a little worse than most places i've rode at down there, but not unbearable...its just that with west nile virus and all, its always a good idea to use repellant...OREGON didn't get it last year(only state) but expects to this summer.

Well, I suppose that is true. Definitely bring the bug spray and some of those citronella candles. My club will be there from July 11th to 14th. We've got 6 sites reserved. I guess the guy that breaks down first will be the one we "sacrifice" to the skeeters!!

Thanks for all the input. Like I said, we'll be in Horsfall space 66 from June 22-27th. We will be ridin' a Polaris SP700, wife's on a Polaris 325 Magmum, son on a Trail Boss 250 and my daughter on a Yamaha. Thanks again ...
