portuguese celebration? what's that? whatever it is, i wont' be there for it. i'm gonna be at mammoth with the YMCA. mountain biking is almost as fun as quading!

 

Portuguese celebration is when all the portagees take off from the valley to invade the beach........(haha!) It's really in honor of St. Anthony, Who is a roman catholic saint. They have a parade and a dance saturday night and then serve sopas on sunday. I am portuguese and I will be participating in tthe dune activites!. Its almost as big as a major holiday weekend!! You get alot!! of portuguese from the central valley.......After all, they don't call it..... "Portuguese Palm Springs" for nothing!!!

when u say central valley, i'm assuming u mean the bakersfield, fresno area. and my mom is from there, and she's never heard the phrase "potuguese palm springs"

CroBiker: when are you heading to Bass Lake? Bringing along your quad? There's some areas to ride not too far from there. If you go to the "Where to Ride" forum look for the Central Valley threads. Some people are looking to ride in the area. I'm only an hour away (if that...Clovis) and have a place I can stay at up there.

i leave for bass lake in about a week. unfortunately i'm goin with my dad (parents divorced) and like 3 other families, including his girlfriend and her kids. my dad took me out to Gorman one time but it was just us. if we didn't have so many people coming i'd ask my mom if she would let my dad take the quads with us. also, he jus bought a new jet ski, so i'll jus pretend it's a quad [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
