I am planning a trip to pismo soon. The wife has allowed me $500 for quad toys and I am needing some help in deciding If I should get my exhaust system and ride on knobby tires or hold off on exhaust and get paddel tires for pismo.

Personally, I'd go for the sand tires. They are not a necessity out there, however, you will enjoy your ride more if you have them... and you're less likely to get stuck. Just my $.02 worth!!

If I was you i would get paddles JMO, If u like to drag race i would get 7 or 8 Skat Trak 20-10-8 paddle haulers or if u dune a lot get the Skat Trak edges 20-10-8 8 paddle both are around 200 and with the 300 you could get Yosh slip on and have the best of both worlds!

If you are going to be duning alot go for the tires first! If it's just a once a year trip you'll get more out of the exhaust day to day. Like quadkayrn said at pismo they are not a necessity....Whatever you decide have fun!

Cool that helps alot I will probably go with the skat trak edges since I like to rip and jump alot. not to big on draggin yet maybe when I get some more mod's. and since it will be my first time in the dunes. I mostly ride at hollister, Carnagie and up at forest hill near auburn.

Dudman.. check out our club page. We are a group of people from all over No. Cal that get together at least once a month to ride. Last month we rode at Pismo and this month is Stonyford.....Not sure if something like that would interest you... but just thought I'd let ya know!!!

Sounds cool my wife and my 7 year old son are alway's looking for friend's to go camping and riding with. But I am in the Air Force and currently sitting in Italy until the end of october. I have been looking at some ATV clubs in my area and I have seen some of your club pictures looks like a fun bunch of people.

IF you do some shopping, like looking on Ebay, you can get both the exhaust and paddles for under $500. IF you only have the resources to buy new, then I guess you have to choose. You can buy paddles with wheels on Ebay all day long for under $150. Most are used, but have a lot of life left in them.

Italy huh.. well, there could be worse places to be.. haha... If your wife and son are looking for riding friends until you get home, they are more than welcome to join us, we have a great group of people that ride, couples, single parents, younger adults, and lots of kids... otherwise, hopefully we'll see the whole family out on a ride after October!

yeah Italy it could be worse at least we got beer and the beach. they also have ATV tours up the volcano of Mt. Etna haveto check that out. but when I get home I am going to pismo for my first dune experience cant wait. I know there are better dune places to ride (glammis, Oregon) but hey gotto start somewhere. I have decided on trying the new ITP sand star tires so if there is anyone out there that has these tires please give a evaluation.
