i'm about 30 Miles south of Lake Michigan and i wondered if there r nedunes to ride near here

I'm from Michigan City. So here are all the secret riding areas that are near you. I don't know what will get you thrown in jail though since I haven't lived there in 3 years.

1. Ripley street. Gary, IN. @ 1000 acres. Back in the 80's this place was awesome. It's on US 20 just north of I-94 and the toll road. Lot's of sand and cool sand trails. Don't know if it's legal anymore. There was alot of garbage last time I was there 4 years ago. [What do you expect, it's Gary. Can't believe I used to live there. 2. The Prison. Michigan City. maybe 250 acres. Sand pit, small dunes, SMALL practice track, and sandy trails. It's along the Amtrak rails [both sides] right across the street from the prison. I hear they have been cracking down on riding there lately. I cut alot of those trails with my friends and have rebuilt the jumps at the small track a gazillion times.

3. LaCrosse. Just right down hwy 8. Lake Michigan used to go down to your area in the Ice Age. There is a sand ridge that runes from SW to NE. It's called the Kankakee beach. I rode out there 1 time and had a blast. The trail went over and along this small dune. Ask around, someone has to know where that is.

You can always go to the Badlands down in Attica. The only Dunes you can ride in the midwest are at Silver Lake in Michigan. That's about a 4 hour ride for you. It's 20-30 miles south of Ludington, right on the lake.

Did you buy your Warrior at Buck's in Valpo? I went to VU and used to buy parts and gear there.

Silver lake Sand Dunes

Hart/Mears, Michigan just south of Ludington and North of Muskegon.

 

Ya actually i did buy it from buck's for a 1000$ discount cuz my dad is best friends with the owner(ernie) ( can't spell) i ALWAYS wear my helmet but i don't when i FIRST get on my quad in the morning when i'm jsut ridin the trails makin sure there kleen so i can go full out 6th gear trough them.... also where u at now??? maybe we should ride sometime..... neway i can contact you???? also im about 7 miels from lacrosse where's this place at? (heading east down 8 towards LaCrosse?)

 

i'm about 1:30 with my dad driving 2 horus mymom driving away from Attica and i jstu realized YOUR IN ARIZONA!!!!! when's your next trip up here???? i know u gotta have relitis up here dontcha ? i mean u grew up in the area.....

 

I'm going to a friends wedding in LaPorte at the end of next month. We are gonna go to Silver Lake for a day and spend the night in the motorhome. I'll ask where those trails were in Lacrosse. Seems like they were off hwy 8 east of town. I'm sure they were private property but maybe people ride out there and it's allowed.

We can ride anytime you like, you and your Dad can bring your quads out to Glamis and I'll show you what Duning is all about. I'll supply the hotdogs/hamburgers and Pepsi for you and the beer for your Dad.

Hey, I gotta ask you something, do they still have that sign out on 49 that says "Welcome to Kouts, A great place to live and shop!" That always cracked me up.

 

lol there's a funny story about what happened to that sign...... some people put about 200 holes in it AND I WATCHED THEM DO IT!!! LEGALLY!!! but this town went to **** we have 2 gas stations and 4 bars and we don't got a grocery store o ya and 3 pizza places!!!!! booze and pizza... lol i ride in Valporaiso do u got liek AIm yahooim icq msn nething???!!!?? i can chat with u with?

 

Hey trx 440, if you hear anything about the riding Michigan City prison dunes let me know, I was riding there, the last time I was there the DNR asked me to leave, he said they were going to start writing out tickets, he was pretty cool, I talked him into letting me ride for the day, but that was it.. NIPSCO don't want people riding on their land any more,, Another friend of mine was out there when a quad ran into a bike, well one of the guys got his toes cut off, and ended up looseing his whole foot. Well that guy got a lawyer wanted the other guy to pay for the bills, and they are trying to get money out of NIPSCO! SO NIPSCO don't want people out there any more..I drove past there the other day and could tell people are still riding out there..Any info you can find out about that place would be great.!

Speedy, if we find out this place is still cool to ride on I will meet you out there.

My wife's sister lives in Kouts [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img] that place is moving backwards.. I used to have a vending route and I bought samdwiches from Landshire foods in Kouts.

 

The Silver Lake sand dunes, in Hart, MI. Near Ludington. I've been going there all my life and it's an awesome place to ride.
