I know shady rascal will be there. Anyone else?

Been watching some vids of that place and I'm dying to go. I'm only doing a day trip - leaving SLC EARLY 4:30 am and leaving SA by 1:00 pm. I just don't/won't ride alone. I'll probably get (5) hours of seat time- that's all.

Do you have to leave by 1 pm? Tell whoever you might be a tad late getting home.

St. Anthony was great! Nice and cool in the morning and absolutely perfect in the afternoon.

In attendance:

wizard64
sandneck
(furture) mrs. sandneck
shady rascal
shady jr.
friend of shady

Best part #1: shady jr. (all 75lbs of him) taking the YFZ up Chokecherry. He only did it once but did great nonethless. There's no question he was not running it WO, but there was still tons of roost and he made up it pretty quick - quicker than me running WFO. He does real good on the Raptor too.

Best part #2: someone's grandpa on a one-off "something" converted to hold/run a Honda 900RR. That thing moved! in fact, the guys he was racing got out of the hole first each time, but he caught and passed them in no time. He was off the throttle probably 40-50' from the top of the hill. We've all seen older guys running quads, but this guy seemed very humble - almost as if he had just got the thing figured out how to ride it and came to the sand to see how it ran. It runs.

Wizard64's got both of 'em on video. Hopefully he can separate them out and we'll get them hosted somewhere for all to see.

Anyway, it was a fun day trip. Those dunes are HUGE. Hell, it takes at least 20-30 minutes from the BLM camp ground/parking lot just to get to Chokecherry and that's still not all the way back! Of course you're running dunes all the while too.

Selector: It was great meeting you and the others, and wish you could have stayed longer. Shady Jr. couldn't wait to tell the other Shady Jr. about running Choke Cherry on that wild YFZ of yours. You know you cost me a bundle---it's going to be REAL tough to get Tyler to ride his Blaster again!

We hit the back dunes again today and left about 2PM.

I still can't believe how fast your YFZ goes up that hill. You went by me so fast on Choke Cherry that one time it looked like I wasn't even moving.

Let's do that again!

Same thoughts here.

Opps - I didn't even think about that! Tyler handles the big Raptor real well though. The thing doesn't even know he's there.

Let's do that again!
Definitely.

I have to chime in as well.
What a trip, I can't say enough about selector and wizard64. What a bunch of great guys. These guys picked me and the missus up and drove our sorry butts all the way to Idaho, rode with us all day, drove us home, wizard helmet cam filmed us all day, and let us watch it on the way home to shorten the ride. You guys are great! We got to mee Shadyrascal and some of his crew, that was awesome too. I can' t wait to do it again. It was a case of these forums working, It made sifting through all the mind numbing "who's faster than who" all worth it to get to meet up with you guys!
Selector, you ride really well, you are humble about being new, but you rip, and I don't even want to start about your machine, I almost have to get one now, the good part is the you letting my woman ride it, she likes it alot too!
Thanks again lets do again

Amen brutha! We were about as cross-cultural as we could be... just needed a kawi in the mix.

When I can crank it around and throw sand like you do, I'll rip! Until then you're the teacher.

I'll let anyone ride it just so long as they give it back! mrs sandneck and ShadyRascal Jr. #1 (both on YFZs) would make for a good race up Chokecherry! Better yet, the two of them racing two of grandpa's 900RRs! Now that would be a site!

Actually, I should have said that the best part was meeting all you good folks - that's what this is all about!

Who cares what you're running. Just meeting up and riding is where it's at. I'm just lucky to have been able to particpate in it all!

Couldn't have said it better myself... Almost got the video done, it should turn out pretty good.

Ya know Selector, there's a part on the video you're going to just LOVE!!!!!!!!!!! When you're racin' a banshe up choke cherry, almost to the top, you're ahead by about a length, the dude on the banshee starts shaking his head violently... he couldn't believe that he just got beat by a 4 stroke! It's so funny to see him shake his head in obvious surprise. Funny stuff man...

Oh yea, that part about you being an ol' man... referred to being 37 a few times... I'm an ol' man too... 38 (Ok, 39 in November, hense the '64 in my username). But we still ride like we're much younger, huh? Gotta love it. I was so impressed with the way Brandy rode, Kam is a lucky dude.

Can't wait - didn't see that on the ride home. You should not have told me that... I'm not a very patient person!

You scoot real good - gear and all. I had to work just to keep up with you. I'm real impressed with the DS650. That thing seemed to have plenty of huevos! In fact, there were quite a few of 'em out there.

Roger that! She was always right there.
