Tires on 4x4 for sand
#1
Guys I'm asking about this in several places to try and get some suggestions. I want to put new tires on my P700 I was going to stay with 25s to not lose any performance. I have been looking at Bear Claws and Spider Tracks because they come in 25s with 12 inch width for more floatation in the sand. I don't have money for new rims so I haven't considered tires that have smaller than 12 inch rims. We like to go to the Dunes but I don't have money for paddles and seperate rims and tires for trails. Tire have to preform well on trails and in the rocks, I know it is a big sport utility and isn't going to do all the things a sport quad with paddles can just want to have fun and not get stuck playing around in the sand. I will be trying to enter this quad in some hare scrambles this summer so I want reasonably good handling tires. Any suggestions

Easy, look for either a 4-snow from Maxxis or a Pro-wedge from.....I can't remember who makes those. They are basically the same tire. They are pretty good on sand, they float and they are light.
Vampires, outlaws or any other aggresive mud tire will be to heavy, you won't be jumping at all with those tires and they are only good with a lot of wheel spin and speed. Go slow with mud tires in sand and you go no where.
Paddles would work well too but might be to expensive.

If u want a sand/trail tire that should perform well in both I think the spider tracks(are they made anymore?), mud lite, realter(they make a 25 inch tire), or some tire that is light and has alot of room between the lugs will do the job.

Either tire you mentioned will work on a 4x4 in the sand. I see 4x's all the time in the big bowls at Glamis, they don't go real fast, but can carry large coolers well for the rest in your group (looks like they are having tons of fum just the same). Just run them backwards with a low PSI, and when in doubt give it gas!
