Default Red Stickers @ pismp

I am planning to go to pismo for memorial and 4th of July, Are they starting to crack own on the red off road stickers this year? I went last year and they didn't bother me at all. I can take my sticker off if need be it is mounted on a plate. Does any one know anything about this.

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated

They are supposed to be. I know the red sticker closed season is like May through August of Sept. Is your bike 2002 or older, or a 2003/2004? If the former, I wouldn't sweat it too much as they kinda hit the reset button as DMV was soooooo great at Green/Red sticker issuance. If the latter, well, roll the dice. I have no idea what the fine is if you are riding out of season.

How do you know if you need a red sticker or green. I'm from out-of-state, what kind of sticker would I need.

I go to Pismo all the time and dont think they have ever checked to see if even have a sticker. Not to mention what color it is.

Last I knew they haven't really been checking red/green stickers. Usually they only check them when they pull you over.

Green/Red is if it is registered in CA. It's our form of registration. If you are registered in your home state most likely you won't need to do anything. If you aren't, you'll need an out-of-state permit/pass whatever it's called. To find out if you are a red/green sticker, check the 8th digit of your VIN. If it is a "C" or a "3" you would be a red sticker, and the bike is a 2003 or newer. If it's older, or has a different letter/number, then it's a green sticker.

I have no idea if green/red is applicable to out-of-state bikes.
