I just heard about it last night. I didn't know the guy, but I do know a guy who was there. The guy who passed on was a close friend of his, and he is really shook up to say the least. Don't really want to go into much more on a forum.

Unfortunatley there were two fatalities over the weekend. See article below.

The paper said the unfortunate victim at the ohv park rolled his quad and was not wearing a helmet. In Oregon, if your over 18, you do not need to wear one. Both victims were over 18.

Second victim, was operating his atv on a roadway illegally, at approx. 55 mph. Hit a fence and power pole. He also, was not wearing a helmet. Another reason NOT to ride on the roadway. Only person he hurt was himself? Wrong, now his family will suffer too. Very unfortunate. Use your head and protect it with a HELMET! Lt. Dan

My interest in this is not morbid curiousity but rather i like to know what happened so that maybe we can all learn from what happened and prevent it in the future. It is a tragedy that a life was lost and i feel for the family and i hope this serves as a reminder to ride safe and know your limits. My wife just informed me that a friend of hers was at the same camp as the rider that lost his life and he (was) wearing his helmet but it sounds like the impact still took its toll.

I just posted what the paper Register-Guard had in it. And it states both riders were not wearing helmets. Being around newspapers though, I know they can be a little inaccurate. The only way to get accurate information is see it first hand, see the evidence at the scene and talk to witnesses.

Pue11, thanks for clearing that up. Can never count on the press to be correct.
