Sand Dunes for dummies

watch for razorbacks, they can come up pretty fast, if you are riding past a campsite watch out for little kid tracks, they are hard to see in the sand....i found out the hard way, if you do make one make sure you have something blocking it. most important dont ride beyond your comfort zone, dont be pressured in if you dont think you can make it up. RIDE SAFE

Be courtous of others around the camps. Dont drag race in the camping areas. Also when its late at night GO RIDE YOUR FOUR STROKE OUT IN THE DUNES, FOR GODS SAKE THERE IS 13,000 ACRES OUT THERE.
(uhh...that felt good)

Bring plenty of tools and any spare parts you have. I hate having to fix my quads at the dunes, but I almost always have to fix one there. It's nice to be able too. I can't remember how many times I have been able to help someone out of a jam when they didn't bring tools. I kind of go by the BoyScout moto. BE prepared!

Don't ride through someone else's camp fast. Most people don't mind you going through their camp but do it REAL slow.
Also bring plenty of gas. You use way more in the dunes than just riding woods or trails.
If someone is in need of help , then lend a hand that may be you next time.

Bring water with you (I carry a camelbak)
Check your fuel level peridocially, esp when you stray far from camp
Make sure you have a full tool kit with you in your truck
Super-secure your car keys on you so you don't lose them out in the dunes
Try to avoid working on your quad (ie. jetting etc.) while in the sand - your bound to lose some small part
Avoid riding alone

If you are riding in the Imperial Dunes. Remember that Getting lost is easy. So when you go out on a ride Point in one direction and ride in that general direction and take a mental note of your surroundings mountains etc.. So that you dont get lost...or go buy a GPS

Momentum is key. More throttle at the bottom and less at the top.
Always hit the top of a dune at a 45 degree angle
More throttle will keep you "In the bowl"
When you crest a dune look at the bottom immediatley. This tells you how fast you can come down..
