The next RAC meeting in Carson City is on January 27 (see meeting announcement below). This is the end of the one year “encouraged route system” trial. Be prepared for discussion at the meeting regarding Sand Mountain and how the trial has worked.

BLM will most likely present their findings and ask the RAC to make a recommendation. The outcome could be anything from increase education, signage and fencing, to total closure of the dune shrub area.

Assuming that Sand Mountain will be a prominent part of the agenda, this will be a very important meeting to attend.

1/27-28: Meeting of the Sierra Front-Northwest Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC).
The RAC will meet on January 27, 2004, at the BLM-Carson City Field Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road, Carson City, Nevada. On January 28, 2004, the RAC will meet jointly with the Northeast Nevada RAC at the BLM-Nevada State Office, 1340 Financial Blvd., Reno, Nevada.
