What dunes are you riding at and what is the elevation ???? What about the elevation where you normally ride ?? A bike running that hot after a little riding is not normal and there isnt a bolt on made that will fix it.

Okay guys. I ride at all the dunes. But mostly Michigan cause they are the closest. Yes, I spent all this money to have a fast machine and want to run cheep gas cause I live in the boon docks and that is all I have access to here. I don't know my elevation, When I get to where I am going to be riding, I re-jet when I get there. My carb (a Doug Eichner Edelbrock Carb) is SUPER easy to re-jet. The only oil coolers that I see on e-bay for a 400ex are used stockers.

use the aftermarket cooler with the stock one. I will mount below the stock one in front of the oil tank. We used one from autozone about 6"x 12". you have to cut your oil line and find fittings that will work. Fourstrke tech sells a kit for the 400ex.

Race gas is a waste of $$ for you if your motor was set up to run pump gas... The ONLY thing high octane fuel does is deter or eliminate detonation in higher compression engines... It does NOT make them run any cooler.
SO, it depends on how your builder set up your engine... if it's not detonating, you don't need the good stuff.

Sand works the motor much harder than trail riding or dirt riding... when you work them harder, they'll generate more heat... laws of physics at work here.

THe best remedy for your problem is liquid cooling, but that's not happening on that machine.

My $.02
