How critical is it and what effect does wheel height play when using paddle tires? i.e. comparing 8" and 10" wheels with paddle tires that are otherwise the same size.

 

I run 10" wheels with my paddles. The difference is that taller wheel rides stiffer. It slides a little better than the 8" wheels. On the other hand the 8" wheels rides a ton softer. My wife has 8" wheels with her paddles and she loves them.

With the 8" wheels there is more flex in the tire allowing for more traction but don't handle as well as the 10" wheels. It all depends on what type of riding you're doing. The 8" wheel is the choice for drag racing and the 10" wheel is better suited for just ripping around the dunes.

 

If you jump or pound through whoops do not buy 10" wheels.. They will bend much easier then an 8" wheel..
