which sand tires?
#1
I am running Geckos on ITPs for the sand. (03 Predator 500 with mods)
I want to get a lighter set of sand tires, starting with the rear. I am thinking about the Sand Skate II's or the Skat Trac V-paddle. I do not want straight paddles, I want the better cornering the V-paddles offer. Maybe on the new Douglas light weight rims. I really don't need to spend the money on beadlocks. Blue label strength is OK for my riding.
Anyone got advice or experience for me?

I'll second the Sand Stars for the best bargain sand tire. My next choice would be the Sand Skate II for a little more money and a lot less weight. Less rotating mass is the key in the sand. Try Jim's Sand Toys for the Sand Skate II's. He has some of the lowest prices anywhere.

sand stars started ripping on our raptor. But i have sand skate II's and they are by far the best tires i have ever ridden. And i have had these since 1999 and no problems or ripping. And the sand stars were never abused like ridden on anything but sand unless crossing a road.

if you like to drag race or hill climb i would recomend haulers on .160 rims or the itp package. my brother has been running haulers on a banshee for two years and still work great. my dad runs skatetrac ll he said he would go to haulers because they pull a lot better. you would be looking at doubling you price but you probaly would like them.

My sand stars have been great. My brother has geckos on his 400ex, and there is such a difference between the two tires. They're priced very well, I got mine on rims for about $160. In fact, today I just ordered sand star fronts.
