Default Sand Tires?

I know that sand tires have been pretty fat on the sidewall side for a long time. But lately Ive seen and recently bought a rim and tire where the tire is farely low profile compared to most. The wheel size is 12x7 and the tires are 22x11x12. So I just want to hear peoples opinions, personal experience, and maybe some technical stuff if ya got any(FastZ). Refer to bio for pics.

The shorter the sidewall the better it will handle as far as sidehilling and turning but you will lose some in a drag because the tire will not expand much. Also with a shorter sidewall floatation wont be as good because the tire doesnt squat much so your tire width will pretty much be what is listed. The wheel/tire combination is probably heavier than most but unless you're big on drag racing it will be a nice setup.

My understanding is that the taller sidewall helps give a better ride/more cushioning in jumps. Also, if you do any big jumping your less likely to bend a rim with the 8inchers than the 10 or 12. I run 20x11x8 Sandstars on both my Z400 and my Raptor on .160 douglas rims. I like to jump but not huge air.

it depends on what kind of riding you want to do. i have tried geckos 22-11-9 they were great for turning and they last a longe time ut heavy and SUCK in drag racing. i tried turbos 20-11-9 and they are a pretty good all around tire. i tried 20-11-9 hallers that were a little better than the turbos. and my favorite are the 22-11-8. they are the best for drag racing and still do pretty good in the turns.

Smaller wheel will absorb better and ride better. A taller tire will climb/drag better. A 21" 7 paddle Hauler is tough to beat. Most people over paddle their quads. I run an 8 paddle Glider on the Athena and an 8 paddle Haluer/Glider combo on the ATKannondale. Both are custom ordered, but the 7 paddle Hauler will be cheaper and probably be just as good and in stock at most good dune tire places.. 22" tires are just to hard to turn very sharp when bowling at a very fast pace. They want to roll the quad.. 20" tires will bowl great, but aren't so good for hillshooting climbing compared to the others above..

Where did you find the tires at. The only place I ve seen them is ITP's web site. All the different atv tire web sites I've looked at don't list the 12" sandstar. Thanks for any info.
