Best wash at Glamis?
#1
Well, I think I've finally done it! Convinced the family and friends to finally try the wash road at Glamis for Pres. weekend. Now comes the hard part - which wash? Any tips or suggestions would be helpful. Are there ones that are too noisy, too crowded, more family friendly, easier to drive in, near all the action, etc.? Are the washes pretty much hard pack or do they get real sandy, i.e. are we gonna get stuck? Thanks!

The washes aren't bad. We camp out at wash 22-23 @ Xmas/New Years. We go that far to get away from the dust. The dust is kicked up people driving (hauling but) back and forth doen it. The worst section is usually from wash 1 to about wash 13-14. That's because that area is graded to fairly smoothe, so the speed of traffic is higher (more dust). After 14 it starts gettting a little wooped up and this usually slow's the traffic down quite a bit so less dust is made.

If you can deal with the dust, head to at least 7. You can get in to the wash, far enough away from the train. It is hard packed enough to get a motorhome and trailer in about 1/2 way to the dunes. THat's where I set up. It gets crowded, but there is plenty of room to spread out.

Thanks. One of our friends like wash 4, but that seems too close to the noise for my comfort. It's 8:07 a.m., the truck is packed, all I need to do is gas it up and hitch up the toy hauler - then it's off for fun in the sand!!! Since I will be the first one out there, everyone else will have to deal with my selection for a camp site. I think I'll start at 4 and pull in to the next least crowded wash I come to. Which on this weekend may be hard to do!
Have fun y'all!
