Pismo Conditions Lately?????
#1
Last time I went to Pismo, I mostly swore I would not go back. It was crowded, and you could tell that the dunes had so much traffic that they were rounded off into sand hills. There were no hard edges on any of the dunes and there wasn't really any place out there that wasn't tracked, and hacked up.
But, alas we are going back in three weeks. We are fortunately going mid week, so that should help with the crowds, but my question is what are the conditions of the dunes in general right now?
Isn't spring the windiest time??? So, the dunes should have built back up over the winter?

Yea but the wind actually helps build back up the sharp edges, and smooth out the tracks. The last time i went it was so windy at night, but by the morning you could see where the wind had built up 3 foot edges or so. It was really nice. Except at night it got kind of cold and was a pain to start a fire.
You will love it mid week, i always take the time off to go midweek. Its empty, and everyones just really cool. When are you going, i'm goingt o be there the18-24. All week .

and i don't know if you've checked out the FoOD website(friends of oceano dunes), but it gives tons of information about the oceano dunes. Check it out. It's a good place for info on the creek and conditions.

We'll be there 21-24. We have a bunch of first-timers coming, but not until the weekend, and I'm afraid it's going to be crowded an nasty, and they are going to hate it!

We'll be back there July 1- July 5. We'll be staying at the Holiday Inn but parking the bikes and trailer and my buddies place.
Let me know if that's the week you'll be there and perhaps we'll meet and have grab something to eat.
EDIT: I just read you'd be there the week of the 21st.

Ah, but you probably don't know Pismo like it was in the old days, before all the closures!

The only reason it could be crowded on the weekend of the 21-24 is there' some event going on. Some guys is trying to do the first natural terrain backflip or something. But it shouldn't effect the crowds that much. I saw the flyer posted on another site. If you're coming on hursday, it will be empty. Until prolly the weekend. I should see you around there.
