We're planning to head out in the morning to hit some dunes in WA or OR not sure where to go yet... but we're looking for a place to go where there are RV hookups and you can hit the dunes right from the campsite without having to trailer the quads from the campsite to the dunes...

Anyone have any ideas?

any help would be greatly appreciated

 

Winchester Bay, OR. Discovery Point RV Park has full hook-ups and immediate dune access. Wouldn't go this weekend, though. Dunefest participants and vendors will be converging on this area to prepare for Dunefest 2006 starting next Wednesday.

 

Give the KOA at Hauser a try. They are far enough south of Dunefest and may have a spot open this weekend. Summers are harder. Good luck and have fun.

Hey Bear, been a while since I seen your posts on this forum. How'd you do at the races last weekend?

 

deffently discoverypoint. since it's your first time though I would suggest sandlake. at the sandbeach campground. I just suggest sandlake cause it's pretty flat which is very good for dune riders but it also has a little bit of a challenge depending on where you go. and its closest to you. just a suggestion for a first time duner it sounds like.

 

ya I would go to coosbay and hit the KOA. considering it is DUnfest.

 

yeah the koa is great if you wanna waste a tank of gas just getting to the dunes.

 

Woahink Lake RV resort about 5 miles south of Florence is great. Full hookups and you can ride from your RV to the dunes. about 1/3 mile ride on sand trail.

Oh, Only stock mufflers allowed in the RV park. must be 93 DB or less. No hot rodding in the park. Owners keep a tight grib on things to keep it under control which is great.

No sand rails or dune buggys.

 

Forget about Washington. You can drive your car on the ocean beaches, but you can't ride a quad. I'm afraid that the enviro-freaks have pretty much got a stranglehold on our great state. All the trails I used to ride back in the 80's have been systematically shut down as soon as "they" found out folks were having fun. Other than the tiny Beverly dunes area, and the little bumps in the sand they call the Moses Lake dunes, you might as well plan on riding in other states, as we do.

 

What about the Juniper Dunes?
