I'm addicted to sand! My buddies and I have been riding at Little Sahara (Oklahoma) for 15 years and we would like to find some more sand areas to ride.

There is supposed to be a good riding area near Hinton, OK on the Canadian River. Can anyone give me directions?

Any other public places in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Missouri, Arkansas or Colorado that would be worth a road trip? If so, how many acres are open to riding?

 

I'm from AZ but went to OSU in stillwater. So I'm used to the Imperial sand dunes in Yuma/CA. I will have to say that the little saharia is fun but nothing like glamis. Take the trip its worth it. The dunes are huge. There is a place called "the stillwater 500." 500 acres of dirt biking riding, pretty cool for bikes. I have raised some hell out there on the banshee. OK is all farm land so it was rough getting to good rivers. Peace

 

Drive a little farther and come to Little Sahara Utah (Sand Mountain) 60000 acres and one of the baddest hills around steeper than even Oldsmobile hill at Glamis. Over 700ft vertical in less than 1/4 mile. A piped banshee with a 150 lb rider only goes 30-35 over the top. Most 4-strokes wont even make it up. A stock 400ex struggles over the top in 1st gear.

Of all, I think Little Sahara OK is the best because there is some variation in terrain. Oklahoma people just seem to be the nicest of all.

Walden CO is second only because the elevation is hard to deal with (for me anyway) I could'nt get our quads jetted decent. It was awesome and there were a bunch of hills I couldn't climb, mostly because of low power. Some were just downright impossible for a 400EX. Even if it was running tip top, I am sure I wouldn't have made them.

Silver Lake Michigan is third because there are a bunch of extra rules, and you gotta buy licenses, fees and extra crap. Also it is small. But, it is a heckuva lot better than nothing!

Glamis is my least favorite because it is all the same. (which might be a good thing to some!) Even so, my wife and I are planning on going there again next Thanksgiving, just to say we did!

 

It may be a little bit of a drive but Kermit sand hills in TX is a fun place. That is exactly what it is sandhills. they are small only 60 feet max. Most are spaced to far apart for atvs
but not for bikes. If you find them there are many 20feet tall and 40 to 50 feet apart you can hit those doubles all day.
