Should I purchase the smooth buff or the mohawks for the front of my Raptor. Will the smooth tires turn easy in the sand?

Both tire will work in the sand the Mohawk will turn better the buff will ride and turn better if you have hard pack dirt to ride over. I use STU's Razorback my self turn real good and adds more flotation. If want better straight-ahead run go with the buff if you want to turn go with the Mohawk.

CALDS650 said it all. I run two quads one with Mohawks and the other with a straight full ridge. There is a noticable difference. I also see a lot of people running Razors on the front. Not a bad idea if you switch tires from sand to dirt a lot.

So the Razor Back is the way to go?

22 X 8 X 10 on my raptor?

P.S. I am also on the dunes.

When I recommend Razors on the front it is based on how much riding you do in the Dunes. If you ride say, 50 - 50 Dunes and non-duning. It is worth the investment in money and time to have front sand tires. Anything less than 50 - 50 and it may not be worth the investment. Most of what front sand tires do is help in the floatation and make turning "somewhat" easier. I have ridden with front Razors and they work great.

Thanks for the INFO

I spend 95% of my time on the dunes (St. Anthony).
I ordered the Razor Backs today form Prowlers Speed and Custom. They don't offer the Douglas .160 so I ordered them with the .125. They are more money than the Mohawks but it sounds like they are worth it.

What size wheel did you order? Since you spent more, I'm assuming you bought STU Razorbacks. They recommend 7-inch wide rims, but I know people that run them on 8-inch. For that narrow Raptor, be sure to get an offset with more outside than in.

RW660

I am heading to St Anthony's in June for a week. Could you give me some info, and possible web sites that have pics and info on it? We are going to be there the 3rd week of June.

Thanks

Have you been up here before? Let me know if you need names of motels or if you are camping.
