Hey WyoRider first off let me say thanks for the Killpecker info, I'm pretty sure this is the aera I've been looking for the last couple of years, though to find. facilitys arn't a problem, got the RV. Hope you don't mind a few more questions, when is this aera ready to ride usualy, april? Seems the wind always blows along I-80 is it usualy windy there too? I'de say your comparison is about right, I'm surprised that theres not more trafic, Guess nobody knows about it. ya gotta watch out for those razorbacks, they used to catch me off guard sometimes but they don't bother me too much anymore, love to shreed some sand with you guys sometime. Sandgod looks like you po'ed your ISP my mail not going thru later

DSjockey, This weekend I'm going to put up some better maps that show detail of important turn-offs, etc; kind of zoomed in views. I've only been to Rock Springs (Killpecker) once and that was in August. It was hot during the day with little wind and at night it cooled down and was VERY windy. Of course that was the only time I was there. I could only guess at when it would be ready to ride on but am sure that it will be windy all the time with the exception of probably June, July & August knowing how the wind blows in this state. I think that most of the traffic is from local people. Everybody I met (some REAL characters there) were from around there with the exception of 2 guys from Cheyenne. Nobody camped out except us and the other Cheyenne people; they were all just there for the day. It was an OK place but no trees, no long (steep though) hill climbs, no real bowls, lot's of razorbacks and 35 miles from town makes it barely worth the trip. I would go the extra distance to St. Anthony or L.S. Utah personally.

WyoRider,
Hey, let me know when you plan to come down to Little Sahara, UT. I always look for any excuse to go out there. I am not sure I will make it out for easter, at least to camp. Me and a buddy of mine, (AIR) were talking about coming out saturday during easter weekend...
We definitely will be out with the families during Memorial Weekend... Maybe make some plans..

WyoRider, I'm sure we'll go to L.S. and St. Anthony's again this year, we did a trip to each last year and also a trip to Glamis on T.G., ( hadda see "the show" at least once). we're shooting for 4 big trips and a Glamis or possible Mexico trip, but all those trips require time off work, thats the killer, 2 days driving for 2 days riding. but I think you'r right, Killpecker is'nt close enough for a weekend trip without driving heroics (no thanks, arrive alive!) tho we''l try to check it out at least once. keep adding photo's, I keep coming back, I dont know if you ever saw "Danny O's Sand Racing" web site, that guy is from Ft. Collins, (running 200 H.P. Lt 500 with KZ 750 2 stroke tripple maxed out on nitrous) any way he has shut down that site so you are 1 of very few sites covering these places. still planing on going on Easter?

DSjockey, I've been thinking about it and I think I'm going to make the trip to L.S on Easter. If I don't hit some sand soon I'm going to lose it. Besides I finally got my Toomeys on the Banshee.
I want to hit St. Anthony again, Maybe June; loved that place. This time I'll make it up ChokeCherry.
Also I REALLY want to get to Sandfest in August in Oregon. That will be the big trip. It's 1250 miles from Cheyenne, WY. That's 2 long days of driving. So many dunes, so little vacation time.
Baja California, Mexico sounds good pretty cool; one of these days.
Danny O's site was great; I hated to see it go. I'll do what I can with my site with my limited skills.

I know what you mean, I'm ready to go in my head at least, all this talking about riding got me thinking maybe late march or the first weekend in april if the weather works out, probably a 5 day trip, I'll lose 1/2 day or more dialing in the woods carb. St. Anthony's sure was great, smooth sand and a lot of places you can open it up, did you stay at the RV resort, we liked it.Ya we're talkingabout sand fest too, 1125 mi. to Glamis from Denver, you'r right not enough vacation time.

DSjockey, Yep, I stayed at the Sand Dunes resort. Not a bad place especially since I was camping in a tent.. Need an RV.
I'm PROBABLY going to head down to Pawnee Grasslands this Sunday and play around. Weather should be around 50 that day; If not I probably won't go. If you've never been there I have a map with directions on my web site. It's a legal place to ride, just make sure you have your OHV sticker. It's basically a big dirt ravine. Enough to play around in for a day. Probably a little over an hour to 90 minutes from Denver. I would guess there will be quite a few people there since this should be a warm day.
