... I mean pre-filter. Have I got your attention? Well, I'm going to ride the Dunes soon and I was told that knee high panty hose make a great pre-filter, just slip them over your air filter and you're good to go. They are supposed to work great at keeping the sand out.

Has anyone tried this? Does it work?

You only need one if it's a K&N filter or if you run w/ no airbox lid as in the case of a pro flo kit. You put it across the top of the airbox. It is not needed w/ stock air filters.

Update.... the panty hose worked fine. In fact better than the filter skins my buddy bought at $4 each, while I bougt cheap panty hose at $.35 a pair. The filter skins ripped, maybe because I ride a Scrambler 500 and it has a big filter, not sure. The panty hose held up fine and kept the sand out of my filter. In fact there was not all that much sand in my filter box in the first place.
