got by way of Fredonia Az and thru Kanab. Going thru Zion Park will cost $20 per car to get thru with big delays. if motor home it is even more. there is fee parking at the dunes and area you can park on your own. check in with the ranger and he will give info on camping. there are a few areas the huggers got closed to prtect a beatle and a poppy plant. You will need flags on atvs. there is a short cut on a dirt road that will save over an hour but is a little rough and sandy. i have driven a motorhome and cars over it , just don't be in a big hurry. on the road from hurricane utah towards frdonia az. you will pass a small town called colorado city, a few miles farther you will come to a smaller comunity called Cane Beds, there is a dirt road on the left that go right to the dunes. the dirt road is in arizona and oil when you get to the utah border. LOL

My buddy has always talked about going to Coral Pink Sand Dunes. I would like to give it a try but I think it is too bloody hot still. My only dune experience is Mexico and Glamis. I hear that at Coral Pink there are even trees! Wouldn't that be a sight, trees in the dunes.

there are some big pine tress that the sand has moved into. It would be cool in the mornings and late evenings and I believe you can run at night if the flag has alight on top.

well lets see where should i begin ok.... It started to be a nice june 30 end of month trip to coral pink sand dunes.. my first time there and my second time out with my new baja toy hauler i loaded up the gen. and my mojave. and the wifes bayou 220 and our three year old boy and away we went from las vegas on this nice early sat. morning. nice and early start oh was 7am. anyway stoped by the new walmart in st.george and bought a vcr-tv so the kid could watch a move or two ok .. we get there at about noon or so and the first thing the campground is full ser oh nice well i told the ranger i need some water oh ok ser that will be four dollars....so i went into the park and filled the trailer up and asked about other camping and he said down the road to the place they call the medow i said thanks and away we went about one mile down the road ok no pavement at all but there were motorhomes all over and i though this will half to do so i picked out a nice spot and we headed over granted this place is about two football fields in total space.and its all sort of fenced. well i took my spot in line at the end of the motorhomes and the fun began....my 1995 dodge dakota v-8 4x4 extra cab go stuck ok dont worry honey ill put it in four low and back out to the hard packed ground ok dear a no way sorry ..... stuck and good.....belive you me this was very deciveing ive done alot of fourwheel driveing in my 38 years and this stuff fooled me big time. anyway unloaded everthing of weight out of the trailer and about three hours of pulling the truck ahead and refilling the holes and only getting about three feet at a time. my life went up side down this kid who i found out had never been on a quad before hit me at about 30 miles an hour. i had pulled my truck forward and was filling the hole back in when i looked up and jumped out of the way i caught his left handle bar with my left had and ripped it open nice blood mess all over. any way now his hole family were my friends and they got my trailer out and there friend was a off duty firefighter and raped my hand up any. buy 330 in the afternoon i hit the shower in the trailer and was ready to go home and yes my wife was ....... p off about the whole deal i fire up the gen. turn the ac on and took my stock mojave 250 for my first ride of the day.. my hand taped up i was only able to use three fingers on the clutch . but forget the pain i was in i just drove 175 miles and i was going to have a great time now...hahahah the way out to the main dune area was alot of work. even for a good rider with half worn out tires ya no paddles anyway ive never seen sand like that it was terrible... it was like silt...... anyway spent the night and went home in the morning.... lesson learned DO NOT CAMP THERE UNLESS YOU HAVE MADE RES. IN THE CAMPGROUND PLESE IF NOT FOR ME DO IT FOR YOUR SELF .....GOOD DAY Jim N. Las Vegas nv....

around the 4th of July is a big deal out there. there are people that take two weeks off and go there. I think all of So. Cali. moves there for the holiday. when its hot and dry the sand is real soft and good tires and lots of power help. paddles make big time rooster tails. if its wet they bite and wheelly. direction tires turned backwards work somewhat like paddles. just switch sides with tires. if you go off the park to the west there are a lot of trails that are not BLM ( no ranger ) and some private land. carry lots of water, a lunch and sunscreen. LOL
