it really depends on what type of riding you do, as far as the tires go, they're are both basically the same tire,

if you dont do any death defying leaps, the .160 should be fine,

it should help with the rolling inertia (having the lighter rims) because both styles of tires are pretty heavy for paddles, if you're just getting your feet wet on the whole sand duning thing, they should be fine, if you fall in love with it, you may find yourself investing in a set of higher priced/lighter tires,

but even the worst paddles are better than any all terrains in my book,

good luck, and where do you plan on riding?

theres a couple sand pits and sand mines here in NJ and would like to make a trip out to silver lake and later on glamis......maybe over christmas vacation next year....i've ridden with my bandits but i rather just have the sand tires....

also i was looking at www.sandtiresunlimited.com

saw a couple tires there.....i've heard alot of people say that the sand skate were for much higher horsepower quads....any incite on those....

thanks

Yes,when mounted they should be as close as possible to being strait across,it does make a diff.! Maybe you could check into the new maxxis paddles,,I love mine. Those that was behind me said that I threw more sand w/the maxxis than w/my haulers

the banshee is considered a "higher horsepower" quad, the sand skat 2's are nice, a little more money but all in all nice tires, the only thing you may want to stay away from (and this isn't from experience) is the taller haulers if your quad is mostly stock, they have a seriously tall paddle

my paddles are not mounted straight across from each other and they work great(22x11x10 8-paddle skat-trak edge on douglass .190), on the little bit of hard pack (50ft.) i have to ride across in order to enter the dunes, it shakes like crazy (cause they're not lined up) but in the sand they don't give perfect traction so when they're spinning (and they always are, regardless of what others will tell you, the paddles are designed to move cubic feet of sand) it doesn't matter, case in point, ive ordered 3 sets of paddles from rocky mountain, 2-haulers, and my edge's and none of them were lined up, this is from a company that sells hundreds or more sets a year, so i wouldnt worry about it, order the kit, bolt em on and have a blast,

yeah it will work, the only problem with the 8 in. is you get more sidewall flex (because there's more sidewall)

they should be fine though, let us know how you like the gecko's, pretty wicked looking paddle

Gecko's may work fine in sand pits but take them to Glamis where the sand is very soft, they won't hook up very well. For optimum performance the blades should be lined up together but DON'T NEED to be.
